A Note on This Beer
Today’s beast of a beer is not for any ‘Lite’ beer-worshipping jabronie. (If you’re not on Urban Dictionary or watching Always Sunny, that basically means “a silly person.”)
This Imperial Baltic Porter is called Cultivating Mass, and it just came roaring out of its 24-month-long captivity in Bourbon Barrels!
No adjuncts or gimmicks here — this 10.9% ABV doozy gets its luscious, mocha cream pie and toasted brown sugar flavors from coffee malts and chocolate wheat! The barrel aging rounds it out with hints of oak and a smooth, whiskey warmth backbone. Savor it now, or cellar it for even more mellow roastiness.
If anyone can nail this kind of palate-thumping complexity, it’s the folks who won Brewery of the Year a whopping five times in a row at the Oregon Beer Awards. Breakside Brewing’s barrel-aging program is renowned across the Pacific Northwest!
And, this is the first time they’ve released Cultivating Mass since 2017. The last rip-roaring batch dominated the barrel scene and snagged a silver medal at the 2018 Best of Craft Beer Awards!
Better clear out an evening for just you and this dark sipper. Once you start delving into its boozy, chocolate-coated body of mass, you’ll be determined to cultivate every last drop.
