A Note on This Beer

When Adroit Theory drops a new boozebomb, we put on our best drinking pants and get ready to par-tay! This crew makes some of the the most coveted high-octane beers in the country — they regularly drop double-digit ABVs in a bunch of different styles!

Honestly, we’re just stoked we were able to get a stash of today’s Cure for Knowledge (Ghost 904) before the Barleywine fiends in Virginia snatched it all up. We had to order our supply before they even brewed it, because Adroit beers often sell out in presale before they’re even canned!

The last Barleywine we managed to scoop up from Adroit dropped almost a year ago, and judging by the 4.16 Tavour score, you all fell head over heels in love. Well, guess what craft fans? This 13.5% ABV brew is packed with even more malty deliciousness!

Every drop is a flood of candied dates, figs, and nuances of rich pipe tobacco. Subtle hints of new leather and a touch of fresh bread pudding round out the finish with a lingering caramel sweetness.

Normally, committing to a beer before the grains even hit the mash tun would seem a little risky, but with Adroit Theory’s Cure For Knowledge, there’s no need to worry. When this crew gets boozy, you know it’s going to be good!

Adroit Theory was one of the Beer Travel Guides 25 Must Visit Breweries at last year’s Great American Beer Festival.

Tavour strictly supports independent beer. Adroit Theory Brewing Company is certified independent by the Brewers Association

10 oz of beer, 6 oz of yeast. Maybe the can I got was last off the line? This beer tasted great, but I was hoping for a full pint of beer not dumping half down the drain.

Strong ale flavors. Sharp, bitter finish. A good barleywine, but not for me.

I can see the references to whiskey. Definitely a unique brew. Not for me, but I can see it having a nice spot in others’ pallet.

A little more hop bite than I prefer in a barleywine

O.M.G!! Fabulously malty, stupendously viscous, adeptly hopped, masterfully boozy! This brew absolutely beckons to be sipped at a fireside. Cheers!

candied oranges and bitter grapefruit. Not a typical example of the English style, more of an off-sweet American take, but it’s delicious nonetheless. 😋

POUR EM IF YOU GOT EM! Tonight, from the masters of adroit theory brewing in vint hill, Virginia, it's "the cure for knowledge"... this powerful barley wine runs 13.5% aaaaand that outa do for curing knowledge! Leather tenons on the nose up front followed quickly by immense notes of candied dates, pipe tobacco and finishing sweetly with bread pudding! Absolutely flawless as always! It's a Greek tragedy, in and of itself, that adroit theory never brews the same beer twice! They never miss! Finishes velvety on the palate with a silky malted warmth that is so far beyond "inviting" this time of year, I feel like I'm honeymooning with the glass itself! Adroit theory is the foremost master of American strong ales in this country, we kneel in their church, everyone else is just congregation! Yet another 5 diamond standard! 😃🍻👍 💎💎💎💎💎
