A Note on This Beer
The brewers at Colorado’s River North call their Decennial: God Complex Belgian Quad an “infallible Quadrupel Ale.” Yeah, they’re puffing their chests out a little, but it’s tough to argue with them.
In fact, take a sip of this 16% ABV beast — with its layers of toffee and candied dates that mingle among notes of vanilla and whiskey spice — and I expect you’ll feel like sticking your pinkies out, too. even agree.
That’s because the one and only thing wrong with this booze-soaked sipper is that the Best of Craft Beer award-winners never make enough — only 99 cases exist of this 2018 vintage and those will disappear before the labels are even dry!
But lucky for you, we were able to secure the only stash leaving Colorado. And with less than 400 check-ins on UT, getting your hands on a bottle will earn you the kind of bragging rights that most Barrel-Aged fiends could only dream of.
Like all the beers in River North’s Decennial series, God Complex can be cellared for up to a decade. But, if you’re anything like us and can’t resist diving in, it’s phenomenally yummy right now.
Crack open the wax cap and this boozy Belgian Quad overflows with rich notes of whiskey-soaked dark fruit and dried plums. Subtle oaky-vanilla harmonizes with faint woodiness and rich cocoa. Offer a taste to any lover of bold Dark brews and they will luxuriate in its boozy warmth.
If you’re patient enough to cellar this brew, the unbelievable ABV will mellow from warm and boozy to silky and smooth. The dried fruit flavors will grow into cascades of raisin and apricot, and notes of dark chocolate and molasses will reveal themselves more with each passing day.
Pop the top on this ultra-rare brew anytime between now and 2028 and you’re in for a truly decadent treat.
