A Note on This Beer

A Biere de Garde is supposed to be strong, but Colorado’s River North takes it to the next level with their Decennial The Last Guardian. The latest addition to the hyper-limited Decennial series, this 15.2% ABV colossus is designed to be cellared for up to 10 years!

The other three Decennial beers in this monstrous cellar series are all rated 4+, and the few fans who have tried The Last Guardian have already awarded it a massive 4.31 on UT!

If you’re lucky enough to have a few River North bottles in your cellar, this is your chance to elevate your collection to even more enviable levels. If you’ve never tried a Decennial series brew then you’ve been seriously missing out on some boozy magic!

Here’s your opportunity to get in on the action. Even your craftiest buddy doesn’t have a bottle of this stashed away unless they made the trek to Denver!

No matter when you open this beer, you’re in for a treat. Fruity notes of peach and white raisin flood across the palate in a sea of rich dates and molasses. The thick mouthfeel is almost chewy tempering the huge ABV and making the beer seriously sippable.

And all of it will only get better with time.

River North only creates beers for this series every two years, and only in tiny quantities. Whether you’ve already got an epic cellar, or you’re just starting a collection, here’s a rare chance to pick up a brand new centerpiece that’ll last for years.

Either way, you might wanna grab more than one bottle. You won’t  want to wait a decade for a taste of The Last Guardian.

Rated 4.31 on Untappd by the lucky few who have tried it.

Tavour strictly supports independent beer. River North Brewery is certified independent by the Brewers Association

Flavor is of bread makts, honey, apple, some very mild esters, and candi sugar. This is a slow drinking, syrupy, rich ale that certainly has some clear Belgian influences, but isn't completely similar to a Belgian ale. It's quite heavy and while I am enjoying it, it's not something I could see myself wanting often. Of the four Decenjials, this is probably my least favorite.

Fruits and light warming. The alcohol is well hidden in this one.

Wow, great beer. Sweet taste because of the higher alcohol but worth it.

Strong ale aroma. Very rich and fruity flavors such as whole wheat bread and cantaloupe on the finish. This drinks very much like a very strong Dubbel. Still crushable, though.

So glad I ordered several of these to age. Very smooth for a 15+% beer. Super excited to see where this goes after five or ten years. If I can last that long.
