A Note on This Beer
Chicago is known for extreme weather. And yet, prior to the pandemic, you’d find thirsty Stout fans braving the elements for hours, waiting for each new barrel-aged release from Revolution Brewing.
Now, they’re selling out online even faster!
And, no wonder — these Chicago craft kings have stacks of awards from GABF, the World Beer Cup, the Festival of Barrel Aged Beers, and more!
Every year since 2016, the fans haven’t stopped drooling with anticipation over the one-and-only Deth by Cherries Imperial Oatmeal Stout.
To craft this 12.5% ABV beast, the brewers used a blend of English specialty malts, flaked oats, and malted oats for a silky-smooth mouthfeel. Then, they aged it in a combination of Bourbon and Rye Whiskey barrels for over 12 months, giving it notes of caramel, toasted coconut, and vanilla.
Once those barrels were emptied, they sweetened it on the backend with just the right amount of unfermented sweet and tart cherry purée, for a masterfully balanced brew.
Each velvety sip envelops your tongue in flavors of roasted malt, chocolate covered-cherries, and caramelly bourbon. It’s surprisingly easy-drinking, despite the subtle warmth that creeps up from the booze!
Today, you don’t have to wait in line to taste this boozy behemoth — all you need is to have your pointer finger ready!
