About This Beer

To craft the new, seasonal Dethurana, the Chicagoland crew started with their beloved Deth’s Tar aged in bourbon barrels. Then they finished a portion of the blend in young Brazilian Amburana barrels, soaking it all in nuances of cinnamon, coconut, and maple so vivid, you might swear it’s brimming with adjuncts. But nope — that’s all barrel, baby!

Tasting Notes

Anticipate creamy currents of dark mocha cascading into coconut creme brûlée and cinnamon chocolate loaf on every velvety swig. Hints of caramel and dark fruit should gorgeously blend with oaky vanilla and baking spice nuances on a whiskey-kissed cereal milk finish that completely obscures the 14.1% ABV.

Good balance of amburana and bourbon. Delicious flavors of vanilla and dark fruit. Some chocolate notes pop out here and there.

Past Revolution offerings have not wowed me, but this was surprisingly smooth and tasty, with a pleasant coconut note and just a hint of bitterness to offset it.

Simply too much for me, as someone who likes milder stouts, so I don’t think I can fairly rate it. Almost tart at first, evolves into deep notes of some kind of warm, sweet and savory spices, very sweet, bitter, and alcoholic.
