A Note on This Beer
I love Holy Mountain Brewing. Love ‘em! I’ve spent hours in their taproom, scour local bottleshops for their limited releases, and I’m literally wearing one of their T-shirts as I write this.
If you keep track of happenings in the craft beer world, you’ve likely heard of this crew. They’ve earned praise from Craft Beer and Brewing, Hop Culture, and the Seattle Times, among many others. Thrillist even named them one of the Best Breweries in Seattle!
But, I barely ever get to share their brews with all of you. Their stuff is so sought after here in Seattle that it usually vanishes before I can secure any, and I only manage to score a few releases each year!
Today, you can sample their skills with Dirt King, Black Crown IPA! This crystal clear hopbomb walks the line between dank, resinous pine, and tropical fruit. The brewers hop it in the whirlpool AND dry-hop it with Enigma, Mosaic, and Experimental Hop #630, which brings notes of raspberry and cherry candy.
A resinous bite on the finish reminds you that it’s a West Coast-Style IPA, but a blend of five different malts adds a touch of sweetness to keep things balanced.
If you’ve never had a Holy Mountain IPA, this one is a great introduction. It’s an homage to the bold IPAs that put Seattle on the beer map. But, with its bright fruitiness from an experimental hop variety, it also shines a light on the future of craft beer.
This beer is too new for ratings!
