A Note on This Beer
If you’ve tried an Anchorage beer, you’ll understand why the experts at Sip Magazine call them “some of the most coveted pours on the global craft scene.”
But I wouldn’t be surprised if you haven’t yet gotten your hands on one of their creations — these incredibly sought-after brews often sell out in a matter of hours on the app (and in mere minutes from the Alaska taproom)!
Now’s your chance to stock up on four of the best quick-vanishing dark beers from the Stout savants at Anchorage. Gift a bundle to a craft lover this holiday season, and you can watch their eyes light up in joyous disbelief!
This is one of the rarest packages we’ve ever offered on Tavour. Here’s a peek inside:
The Explorer - Imperial Stout - 4.39 UT rating - 15% ABV x 1 bottle
There are Chocolate Stouts, Coffee Stouts, Milk Stouts, and Stouts with Chili peppers. Then there’s The Explorer, a ridiculously decadent, 15% ABV limited release that encompasses it all — and then some! It sips down stunningly smooth for its strength and brims with rich Mexican mocha flavors.
Starting with a big, roasty base of dark malts, the brewers fermented and aged The Explorer in Missouri Oak foeders to mellow out the boozy intensity and impart notes of woody spice. And the real kicker? They finished it all on quite the impressive ingredient lineup: Madagascar vanilla beans, coconut, Ancho chilies, cocoa nibs, locally-roasted coffee, and milk sugar.
Into Nothingness - Imperial Stout - 4.32 UT rating - 15% ABV x 1 bottle
Anchorage poured their absolute best efforts (and $40K worth of bananas) into this opulent Imperial Stout that brims with thick mouthfuls of chocolate chip banana bread flavors.
The dark beer masters started with a Stout fermented and aged in Missouri oak foeders. Then, they finished the brew on LITERAL tons of banana, luscious Madagascar vanilla bean, creamy raw coconut, and caramelly toasted coconut for satisfyingly chewy sips overflowing with decadent banana split and coconut anglaise-like flavors.
Doomed - Double Coffee Stout - 4.4 UT rating - 15.5% ABV x 1 bottle
Head Brewer Gabe Fletcher and his nationally acclaimed crew coaxed out some ridiculously opulent mocha notes in this dark, boozy silk. They aged the brew in Missouri Oak before finishing it on Madagascar vanilla beans and coffee for a deep, roasty Stout!
While the mouthfeel flows smoothly, the oak deepens the semi-sweet notes of the coffee and chocolatey dark malts, wrapping them in a toasted caramel-like glaze.
Sent By Liars - Imperial Stout - 4.54 UT rating - 15% ABV x 1 bottle
To craft this sumptuous Stout (that sold out in 3 minutes from the taproom), the Anchorage team fermented and aged it in Missouri Oak. Then, they finished it on 1,000 lbs of hazelnuts that were roasted in Anchorage’s own wood-fired oven. Finally, they added luscious coconut and Madagascar vanilla to create a rich, full body that drinks almost creamy.
According to the founder, the brew tastes like “chocolate covered biscotti with a sprinkle of roasted hazelnuts on top.” We think that’s pretty spot on, except we’d toss in a pinch of coconut, a drizzle of caramel, and chase it with a sip of freshly brewed espresso.
If you’re lucky enough to snag one of the bundles we have remaining, you’ll have just the thing to make any holiday meal or reunion with friends that much more memorable!
