A Note on This Beer
There’s this segment in entertainment magazines called, “Celebrities: They’re Just Like Us!” They show Leonardo diCaprio going to the grocery store or Clint Eastwood getting gas.
Well, we have something like that here at Tavour, but instead of celebrities, it's called “Brewers: They’re Just Like Us!” And today, we’re featuring the folks at Westbound & Down.
See, before we were lucky enough to snag our first beer from them, these guys were longtime Tavour members — how cool is that?!
So, of course we were excited when we were able to share a small selection of their barrel-aged masterpieces with you last year. Like Louie, their Rye Barrel Aged Barleywine that was so rich and endlessly decadent, it earned a stellar 4.13 from our members.
But, since these brewers are so small-batch — and you all loved it so much — it disappeared so fast that most of you didn’t even have a chance at it!
Which is why we’re beyond stoked to bring Louie back!
Only this time, this 14.3% ABV behemoth has been slumbering in a combination of George Dickel Bourbon Barrels and French VSOP Cognac Barrels for over 12 months.
And thank goodness it did, because Louie brims with epic layers of creme brulee and nutty toffee decadence, sprinkled with a hint of orange zest. And just like last year, we only managed a tiny amount of Double Barrel Louie (2020) — 240 bottles to be exact!
If you missed out the last time, now’s your chance to be one of only 240 people to experience this small batch treasure.
This beer is too new for ratings! Last year’s vintage earned a Silver Medal for Wood and Barrel Aged Beer at the Great American Beer Festival!
