The holiday season is a truly magical time in New York City. Midtown storefronts light up with festive displays, carolers make their way around Central Park, and, for craft fans who’ve been good all year, Other Half’s juicy creations beckon from Brooklyn. 

Forget Times Square and Grand Central — beer lovers come from all over just to get a fresh taste of one of Vinepair’s most important breweries of the decade! But, unless those fans are first in line on release days, Other Half’s IPAs risk staying on the wish list. 

Which is why we’re up to our holiday elf ears in excitement over today’s beers. Might as well tack the ornaments on the beer fridge this year and drape it in string lights. Other Half is comin’ to town in the form of a hoppy, 8-can bundle!

Step aside, Santa. The best gift-giver this season is going to be you! Here’s what comes in this covet-worthy box of hopbombs:

DDH True Green - 7.9% ABV - 2x 16oz cans

Everyone else can keep their evergreen wreaths. For hopheads, True Green’s garlands of hops are what’s going to make this year extra festive! 

Fans rave that this resinous, tropically-loaded hopbomb is “the real deal!” One hophead even says, “so darn good, I can’t think about anything else!”

That’s because Other Half hopped it with a rarely-seen four-way combo of Citra, Mandarina Bavaria, Kohatu, and Motu, and coaxed out some serious tropical dankness in the process. Each sip floods the palate in drippy papaya, swirling into citrus peel, melon, and floral notes. And, as @Jared H says, “It’s smooth as silk, baby!”

DDH Oh… Dream - 6.2% ABV - 2x 16 oz cans

This is an Oat Cream IPA, so named because of the lactose and massive amount of oats the brewers load into the base. It rivals smooth gelato in thickness, and, thanks to a cheery double dry-hopping of Galaxy, Citra and Motueka, each sip explodes with extra potent flavors of ruby red grapefruit, dried mango, and creamy berries!

It’s like the upgraded version of your aunt’s holiday fruitcake, sans all the weird additions and the need for a machete to cut through the stiffness. In fact, with Oh… Dream’s incredibly silky hop fruit flavors, you might even muster up the courage to tell Aunt Gladys not to bring a cake — this year’s dessert is beer!

DDH Forever Ever - 4.7% ABV - 2x 16oz cans 

Don’t let that low ABV fool you — this Double Dry Hopped Session IPA has bigger flavor than most of the IPAs on the bottleshop shelves! 

The brewers dosed this quencher with piles of Amarillo, Mosaic, Azacca, and Citra Hops for a strong foundation of pine and candied orange peel notes. Then, they dry-hopped it with more Azacca and super-concentrated Citra and Mosaic lupulin powder for massive bursts of ripe papaya, grapefruit zest, and juicy nectarine flavors. 

Crack open a can of this refreshment after a long day of holiday shopping, and the evening will be merry indeed!

DDH Galaxy + Strata - 8.5% ABV - 2x 16oz cans

Other Half used obscene amounts of passionfruity Galaxy and ultra-dank Strata Hops to craft this beauty, so it tastes like a tropical smoothie at Cheech and Chong’s house. If you took some fresh kush and blended it into some tangerine-flooded Jamba Juice alongside a dose of seasonal cheer, it might taste close to this succulent nectar. 

The booziness is shockingly undetectable amid all that dank hopjuice. Still, at 8.5% ABV, you might find yourself belting out “Santa Claus and His Old Lady” and other Cheech and Chong holiday hits by the time you reach the bottom of the can.
