About This Beer
To bring this majestic leviathan to life, Rhinegeist began with a Belgian Dark Ale base, beloved for its chocolate malt complexity and banana-like esters.
Tasting Notes
Then, they gave it some serious muscle — the brewers first let the Ale slumber for 12 months in bourbon barrels, imbuing it with prominent notes of caramel and woody spice. Then, they moved Mastodon into red wine barrels for another 6 months, where it soaked up hints of ripe plum and subtle blackberry, along with a tannic dryness.
