A Note on This Beer
The legend of Anchorage Brewing’s Pie Assassin NEIPA runs deep in the craft beer community.
Not only have we brought it back three times on Tavour due to popular demand, but the name itself refers to founder Gabe Fletcher’s promise to nail Tired Hands Brewing’s Jean Broillet in the face with a pie. For real!
See, when Jean went up to Alaska, he and Gabe agreed that whoever caught more fish would throw a pie in the loser’s face. Gabe won, but never got his prize. So, every time he brews Pie Assassin, it’s a reminder to Jean that he’s still on the hook for a faceful of pie.
Now, Gabe is doubling down on that promise. For the first time ever, he’s brewed an extra boozy, intensely hopped DOUBLE Pie Assassin!
Clocking in at 8.4% ABV, this rendition bursts with all the passionfruity, pineappley flavors of hard-to-find, Australian-grown Galaxy Hops. Some pine resin rises up on the finish for a subtle hoppy punch, but overall the sip is soft and pillowy throughout.
It’s so flavorfully quenching, Jean probably wouldn’t mind taking this brew straight to the face. But, a deal’s a deal, and one day he’ll have to meet that pie.
In the meantime, now’s your chance to enjoy Gabe’s juicy reminder!
You folks loved the original Pie Assassin so much, you gave it an enormous 4.33 rating on Tavour!
