About This Beer
Clocking in at 8.4% ABV, this rendition bursts with all the passionfruity, pineappley flavors of Australian-grown Galaxy Hops.
Tasting Notes
Subtle pine resin rises up on the finish to balance things out, and it’s all flowing through a body that’s fluffier than a face full of whipped cream.

Not my favorite double. It was quite boozy and it tasted like it. Maybe I’m just not a fan of the kind of Australian hops they used.

Very good

Galaxy Hops FTW! Soft and easy drinking—just the right amount of bitterness without being overly sweet.

I got two and I'll drink the second can but not a fan of this flavor at all. Can't really taste anything that is in the description.

Nope

Way too bitter like black pepper on the back of your throat.

Freshness factor :(

Falls flat. May be better fresh.

Not bad but not up to what I expect out of Anchorage or Tired Hands. Not as smooth as either brewery's usual IPAs

Delicious!
4.25
Thick and weighty and more hop focused than the "normal" pie assassin.

Good beer and not very hoppy

16oz can from Tavour. Thick, hazy pour, color of straw or dried mustard, skin of head. Floral aroma, citrusy. Hoppy taste, grapefruit peel, greens, more floral. Thick and creamy. Subtle, but a lot going on at all levels.

I'm not sure what about this says pie... Its an ipa, and a decent one.

Least disappointing beer I’ve had from anchorage

IPA as advertised but the bitterness is a bit too much with the hop varietal used akin to that need to wash your mouth out after getting too much grapefruit rind in your mouth So much so that try as I may I couldn’t finish it. Disappointed. Pie is on the can but there’s nothing pie to this beer perhaps other than some backstory into its conception. Most other beers in particular ipa from this brewery don’t typically disappoint in my experience. Everyone makes their expensive mistakes that they are going to just can and try to sell anyways, perhaps this is one of their rare duds

This is a solid beer to drink poolside while waiting for some dry rubbed grilled wings.

It’s decent but definitely an iPa

For me it was way too much hops. I’m not sure what I expected, but it just tasted like hops with no other notes. Definitely not for me, but if you enjoy IPAs I’m sure this’ll hit the right note for you.

Nice and hazy, but not a fan of the bitterness. Papaya and citrus notes are good, but I was expecting a bit more from this one.

Soft and pillowy on the mouthfeel is right! Juicy citrus with a resiny finish

Serviceable as well

I was somewhat let down by this one. the beer itself was fine, but I was expecting a huge lemon pie flavor punch which never came. With a name like Pie Assassin, it should probably deliver something over the top.

woof. past it’s prime unfortunately. I think this is one of the early crate decisions. then I fuckin delayed the shit out of it. not fair to the beer.

One of the few Anchorage brews I wasn’t a huge fan of. Started a bit sour, then finished bitter.

didn't love the flavors in this but decent beer
4.25
Hop burn, but still juicy and tasty.
3.5
Hoppy and juicy but forgettable

Not as expected. Very boozy, more than expected for douple IPA. Piney, bitter lingering taste isn't very pleasant. I'll drink the others I got, but won't be a highlight.

Awesome flavor, liked a little bit more than the Pie Assassin IPA
4.0
Citrusy and hoppy
2.25
Slight citrus taste. Nothing that stands out to make me want more or make it unique. Won’t get this one again.
4.0
A decent IPA overall. Subtle hop profile and light stone fruit.

Final nail in the coffin for me ordering Anchorage beers. Heavy, hazy, bug bitter notes, nonexistent fruit. White pepper finish hits you in the back of the throat. Sink pour.

Exactly what I would hope for with a double IPA. Super delicious & definitely tasted both the hops & the fruitiness at points. I’d buy again.

Solid IPA, not too harsh like others I’ve had. Would buy again.

Not bad, a bit bitter with a very very slight aftertaste that does remind you of eating a piece of pie crust.

This is a smooth DDHDIPA with lots of citrus and pineapple flavors. It goes down very easy for 8.4% ABV.

Side by side comparison with base Pie Assassin. Aroma has grapefruit, pineapple and white bread. Flavor follows the grapefruit and pineapple hints. Similar to the base but amped up. Dry texture with a thicker yeasty body. Alcohol is mostly hidden

Don’t really taste any fruit to it at all and wouldn’t say that its super smooth either. Would agree with other users that it’s pretty hoppy, which I generally don’t mind but it seems like it overwhelms all the other flavors.
3.0
The bitterness and mouth feel plus residual taste that lingered was unpleasant
4.0
Look and especially the nose is great but it’s too sticky bitter on the end.
2.5
fine but pretty flat flavor and was fairly chunky
4.0
Very smooth and easily drinkable.

Meh, might not drink my second one.

Yeah, I was very excited for this one, and regular pie assassin. I was disappointed, this one has a weird taste that I didn’t expect from Galaxy with a loud dank bite. Subsides a bit as it warms, like single pie assassin.
