A Note on This Beer
Farmhouse Ale fanatics are familiar with the talents of Jester King — they’re the fourth best small brewery in the world, according to the readers of Craft Beer & Brewing!
And, craft aficionados worldwide know the magic of Mikkeller, the international superstars who’ve expanded their European empire from their roots in Denmark, all the way to San Diego, New York, Shanghai, and Tokyo!
Today, we’re honored to bring you an exciting collaboration from these two pioneering powerhouses!
Drink’in the Sunbelt is a crisp, refreshing, and hoppy Wheat Beer that pairs Jester King’s commitment to mixed culture with the fairytale magic of Denmark. It originally landed on the scene in 2011 — now, it’s back with the same, delicious recipe and a brand-new look.
But, don’t let those crushable cans fool you — this brew is as vividly complex as any we’ve tasted from these craft beer kings.
Floral Amarillo and piney Simcoe Hops leap onto the palate from both kettle and dry-hopping, complemented by the citrusy notes of Citra Cryo in the dry-hop. The brewers fermented it with Norwegian Hornindal Kviek yeast to bring out even more tropical and stone fruity flavors. Malted and flaked wheat, Blacklands Malt, and flaked oats give it a smooth, creamy mouthfeel.
The aroma is a juicy bouquet of tangerines, peaches, and pineapples, with a hint of pine and a whisper of spicy, white pepper. The taste of succulent lemons mingles with notes of freshly baked bread, and there’s a funky whiff of newly-mown hay on the finish.
Jester King’s sophisticated brews rarely leave the Lone Star state, and collabs like this are even rarer! Each sip of Drink’in the Sunbelt invites you to savor the taste of Texas — AND the taste of Denmark — all at the same time.
