When one of Esquire’s Top 10 Beers You’ll Never Taste ages with cinnamon and vanilla for 180 days in rare Apple Brandy Barrels, it transcends from “you’ll” never taste it to “nobody you know will.”  

So it’s no wonder that the lucky few to get their hands on today’s 2019 vintage Fifty Fifty Eclipse Apple Brandy Barrel gave it a glistening 4.18 Untappd-rating.  

Sometimes it’s hard to express how special a beer truly is. We couldn’t say it better than @maximum12’s glowing BeerAdvocate review: 

“Another bottle liberated from the clutches of CA! It told me it’s happier here. Little does it know it’s slated for slaughter tonight.

“The pour is almost like a moonless night. The barrel makes a marked appearance, and almost makes the Stout seem fuller somehow, but it’s far more apple than brandy, just like Wham! is more Michael than Ridgeley.

“Smooth Granny Smith apple, brown sugar, mild roast, and enough oak to crush a double-wide. Full frontal malts. Plenty easy to down.”

We love that description, and in addition to what @maximum12 described you’ll also experience aromas of rich chocolate, toffee, and roasted malts. The first sip is like a freshly-baked apple pie with a chocolate crust, while Brandy sweetness and a hint of oak appear on the finish.

If you do snag a bottle, we recommend sharing this rare treasure with your friends. Because without you, not only will they likely never get a taste, they may never know that a beer like this even exists.
