A Note on This Beer

The key to an excellent PB&J sandwich is the ratio between the peanut butter and the jelly.

I like to spread an even layer of peanut butter on each slice of bread, then add a couple of dollops of jelly on one of the slices. I spread the jelly evenly, smoosh the halves together, and slice it diagonally down the middle.

Naturally, as a sandwich connoisseur, I jumped at the chance to try today’s Peanut Butter & Raspberry Jelly Sour from Urban Artifact. It’s the latest gourmet concoction in their food-inspired Epicurean series, and it’s causing craft fans to toss their bread and Jiffy to the wind with reckless abandon.

Like the most thoughtful parents, the brewers packed this fantasy of a lunch with tons of juicy raspberries and roasted peanuts. But, unlike your folks’ handiwork, this crave-worthy Sour comes with a just-for-grownups 8.5% ABV!

The lucky few who’ve tried it are practically begging for another sip, gushing:

  • “I’ve been dying to try this beer and it didn’t disappoint! Perfect balance of raspberry and nuttiness. A good dessert beer.” @Alannah P.
  • “It’s a liquid PB&J sandwich. So good. I’d rate it higher, but I can only eat one sandwich at a time, and that goes for the drinkable kind, too.” @Aaron K.
  • “Holy cow!!! Straight up PB&J.....!!!” @Steven M.

The key to a perfect sammy experience may be the ingredients, but the key to an excellent beer experience is getting your hands on one before they’re gone! Urban Artifact’s creative brews rarely leave Ohio, and even if you COULD fly there this minute, they’re not offering this one in the taproom!

Which means, you’ll want to grab yours before the lunch bell rings.

*Urban Artifact holds awards from the U.S. Open Beer Competition, the Alltech Commonwealth Cup, and others!

All these bad reviews, I must have gotten a good batch. I really enjoyed this beer. Nice peanut taste up front with a smooth raspberry note to follow. Very drinkable.

I’m seeing mixed reviews on this one, but honestly I loved it. They hit both the flavors perfectly, tastes like a Pb & j forsure.

I taste the tart raspberries, but can't distinguish the peanut butter flavor. Tasty for a raspberry sour, but not tasting the PB &J!

Tasted like burnt peanuts with not enough jelly. Absolutely the worst I've ordered from tavour so far... And I've spent more money here than I care to admit

Hands down the worst beer I have ever had from Urban Artifact. It tastes like their Spicy Pickle beer with some shit raspberry jam added in to save it. Absolute trash. I choked down half and I’m just gonna throw out the other five I bought.

Smooth, if a bit thin. Very raspberry forward, with quite a bit of tartness. The peanut tastes distinctly like ballpark/five guys bucket o' roasted peanuts, not peanut butter, to the point of tasting a bit like the shell. Not bad, but not what I expected.

Its pretty interesting...I'm mean its a beer that tastes like a pb&j so I don't know what else you'd expect. I definitely enjoyed it, but probably wouldn't drink more than one in a sitting

Definitely not what I was expecting for a PB&J drink, wasn’t the best peanut flavor and tasted more like roasted peanuts and tart berry than peanut butter & jelly

I appreciated the effort, but the execution was a touch subpar. You smell the jelly initially, but lose it to a burnt peanut flavor that is quite overwhelming.

Nice raspberry flavor, tart mouthfeel. PB is less Jiffy, more Smuckers Natural, so think slightly bitter. Overall not a bad beer but easier to finish if drinking with a friend.

Maybe something was wrong with mine, but the peanut butter taste was more like unsalted peanut shells mixed with freezer burn

Wild beer. Peanuts tasted like raw unsalted peanuts. I wish some lactose had been added to provide the creaminess of peanut butter

This fruited sour runs 8.5% and pours a beautiful ruby red with very loose lacing on the head. Aromatics of raspberries and yes!, even light peanut butter! A tart and crisp sipper that really cleanses the palate. Addictive... drinks like a dry champagne! Not much peanut butter flavor, that's mostly in the aromatics... but it's an astounding achievement in fresh raspberry Frambiose! For tap room exclusive beers that almost never leave Ohio, I'll count myself as fortunate to try this one. This, from the "Epicurean" line, is food themed and based. Can't wait to try the others! Urban artifact had never missed in my time with them! 💎💎💎💎💍
