A Note on This Beer

In Spring of 2019, the folks at Garagiste Meadery visited Barcelona and fell in love with Spanish wine.

So deeply in love that they decided to import red Mataró grapes from Spain’s famed Alicante wine region.

The result is today’s Eulalia, a decadent Pyment-style Mead — basically a wine/mead hybrid — blended with organic honey and the highly tannic Mataró grapes. Mixed yeast fermentation and oak aging create surprising layers of dark fruit, wood spice, and earthy clover, making each 14% ABV sip into a semi-sweet dance across the tongue.

Enjoy it as an after-dinner delight or on a long weekend afternoon — just make sure you have plenty of time set aside to really delve into the surprising complexity hiding in this bottle!

I love ice wine and this tastes just like it. Very sweet and definitely an after dinner dessert drink. Wish I had bought more

Undrinkable. Far too sweet. Maybe I’m unfamiliar with mead, but it was like sipping on syrup. I had to pour it down the drain, which was frustrating because it was a rather expensive bottle.

First time I’ve had mead and I loved it! Really tasty. Definitely not a beer. More of a sweet red wine flavor and mouth feel. I drank it with dinner which was Tikka Masala - so probably not a common pairing, but it stood up fine. Definitely going to pick up more mead the next time it’s offered.
