A Note on This Beer
Pelican Brewing’s Father of All Tsunamis is the epitome of a “bucket list” beer. Ready for some awesome facts?
- It’s an epic reimagination of Pelican’s GABF-winning Tsunami Stout, amped up with an 11.2% ABV and dowsed in rich, roasty dessert flavor from four kinds of malts, cane sugar, and aging in Rye Barrels!
- The beer is a LEGEND worldwide! Father of All Tsunamis holds 6 medals from some of the most competitive contests on the planet: the Oregon Beer Awards, Brussels Beer Challenge, Australian International Beer Awards, and the International Beer Cup!
- Each vintage comes out just once a year in limited quantities, and is typically only available at Pelican’s three beachside brewpubs in Oregon!
If you’re lucky enough to snag a bottle, you can cellar it for an even more luxurious treat. The brew’s flavors of dark chocolate, molasses, vanilla, and fresh-ground espresso deepen over time, melding together in warming mocha decadence.

Not sure about the negative reviews on this one. This is NOT a "pastry stout"!
I smell rye, chocolate, vanilla. Tastes like it smells. Lots of barrel. Not too boozy. Delicious. Not sweet at all.
3.5
Nice stout, but I am missing any barrel aged characteristics.

A Good, authentic and we’ll rounded barrel aged imperial stout. It has a somewhat bitter finish but not dominant.

good. worth trying.

I let this sit for a few years after reading the reviews. the time certainly mellowed the beer and brought it to a more cohesive rye barrel flavor with a bakers chocolate finish.
