A Note on This Beer
We might be a little biased, but there’s no other beer season that brings us more happiness (and pride) than Fresh Hop Season -- Seattle’s own Fremont Brewing Company just won a medal at GABF 2017 for their Field to Ferment Fresh Hop series! And today, we've got their last release of the season: Citra Fresh Hop Pale Ale.
Each batch is loaded with 1300 pounds of fresh hops - damn right, that’s a load of fresh juicy hops. Fremont picks them up before hustling over the Cascade Mountains in a refrigerated truck, all to craft a fresh batch of Citra Fresh Hop Pale Ale within 24 hours of picking.
Fresh hops provide 80% of the hop oil versus the 10% portion of your typical hops, delivering so much juicy dank hop flavors you’ll wish every beer was freshly hopped. Citra’s tropical and resin character shines full-force in this brew. Juicy pineapple, pomelo, and piney aromas fill your senses before diving into resin-soaked journey of citrus with fresh-squeezed oranges, grapefruit, and tangerine. Peaches and lychee swirl among the slightly bitter citrus peel notes, before ending with a clean, crisp snap in the finish.
Fremont’s Fresh Hop Pale Ales are the most sought-after by locals in Seattle -- they wait all year for Fremont’s Field to Ferment ales. The Citra release was just canned in the last week of September, and it already has a 4.16 on Untappd! It’s the ultimate way to celebrate the end of our favorite season with Citra’s tropical citrus and resiny essence.
Canned on 9/26/17; Rated 4.16 on Untappd
