About This Beer
Like a classic German opera, this Altbier received a standing O from the crowd!
For starters, it’s a Rhineland classic. See, the Altbier is one of the oldest styles in Germany’s storied history of beer making. Brewers use yeasts commonly seen in Ales. However, they ferment them in a cooler atmosphere (like Lagers). The result: a classic style of malty brew goodness!
Tasting Notes
Wayfinder’s deep red rendition of the olden brew style comes filled with those slightly spicy, and wholly crushable toasted bread flavors. Since they dry hopped it with a touch of Spalter Select Hops, you also get a hint of floral aroma on the nose leading off every tantalizing sip.

not for me. It had a nice pour and decent nose. The taste got me. It was quite bitter. Reminds me of an IPA and for me personally, I don’t like them.

Crisp and bitter. Excellent finish that lets you down easy.

Malty and bready, light hint of smoke as it settles. Slight syrup creeps in at the finish, with just a hint of dry bitterness in the end.

Great change of pace… clean malty with a bit of smoke. Somehow, I could drink 7 of these at this moment…

Distinctive red altbier. It’s almost like a lager or a kolsh but slightly different. Very good!

first real experience with the style, but a big fan of ambers.
Very toasty and caramel notes. well balanced, has plenty of malt but balanced enough where you could drink all day.

Pours with a nice copper color and a small amount of foam that clings to the glass. Not very fragrant, but has the standard malt/hop smell. Light bodied and bubbly. Tastes mostly bitter with a subtle mix of citrusy hops flavor and sweet malt flavor.
