A Note on This Beer
Whenever Cincinnati’s MadTree announces that they’re all tapped out of their “High” Imperial IPA series, the locals turn into an angry hopheaded mob!
They leave nasty voicemails, fill up the brewery’s inboxes with passive-aggressive messages, and barrage their social media accounts demanding: “How long until it will be back again, dammit!”
Here’s why Cincy craft fans are getting so worked up: the GABF award-winning brewers load each beer in their 4+ UT rated series with a massive amount of unique hops, showcasing layer upon layer of complex fruity flavors. And once each micro-batch is gone, it’s gone for a whole year.
So get your smartphones and selfie sticks ready, because today we’re giving you a chance to snag the two highest rated and most coveted beers in the series: Citra and Galaxy High. These mega-juicy fan-favorites are so popular, that when asked if they were Team Galaxy or Team Citra, fans simply responded “Team Yes.”
Citra High
Boasting a burly 9.5% ABV and swimming in 4.5lbs of hops per barrel, Citra High deserves every bit of its 4.31 BA rating.
MadTree strikes a masterful balance between waves of fruity hop flavors and piney West Coast resin, with Craft Beer & Brewing Magazine calling the citrusy sipper, “Dangerously drinkable.”
The pour is brimming with aromas of ripe mango and dank papaya. Layers of blood orange and ruby red grapefruit burst onto the palate giving way to a finale of bitter evergreen and herbal spruce.

Galaxy High
Every year when this boozy 9.5% ABV tropical treat comes rollin’ off the canning line, MadTree has to prepare for the horde of fans who just can’t get enough of this 4.30 BA rated brew.
Loaded with 733lbs of Galaxy hops per batch (we shit you not), Galaxy High’s intense waves of passionfruit and pineapple kush has fans declaring that it is Cincinnati’s finest DIPA!
Double dry-hopped with rarely seen Topaz Hops, notes of Mandarin orange, tangy citrus, and ripe stonefruit crash onto the tastebuds. A hint of grapefruit pith is followed by layers of evergreen and resinous pine, finishing dry and clean.
