A Note on This Beer
Even beer fans who are well-versed in Michigan’s craft scene might not be familiar with Ferndale Project — but those who are prefer to keep it all to themselves.
The experimental arm of Detroit’s popular Eastern Market Brewing, Ferndale flies under the radar with its highly limited batches and tiny taproom tucked away in a residential suburb. They’re so focused on precision and flexing their creativity, they only release a couple brews each week, if that.
Though today, you get access to not one, but TWO fresh releases that flaunt this Michigan secret’s talents!
First up is Small Step, a lush, Hazy New England IPA double dry hopped with Citra, Enigma, Cascade, and Simcoe. Its easygoing 6.4% ABV depths brim surprisingly with so much plush orange juice and fresh-cut pineapple flavor that superfan @Michael O. declares it his “favorite beer from the past year.”
If there’s a beer that might have Michael O. picking another new favorite, it’s Giant Leap. The Ferndale team busts the tropical floodgates wide open in this boozier, even more robust quencher. Every 8.5% ABV sip flows across the palate in waves of mango, grapefruit, and tangerine. Let it linger, and the Mosaic, Ella, and Centennial Hops offer underlying pine resin notes to make the experience all the more plush.
But, if you want extra cans to decide for certain which Ferndale hopbomb is tops, now’s the time to grab them. Unless you live in the Detroit area, right here’s the place to get in on this limited Mitten State mastery.
*Small Step boasts a 4.22 Untappd score while Giant Leap has a 4.28!
