A Note on This Beer
Look, I practically live and breathe coffee. I mean, come on — I live in Seattle, the coffee capital of the US. For java junkies like myself, today’s Gobias is a no-brainer.
No, I’m not talking about the half-baked business venture started by Gob and Tobias on the hit T.V. show, Arrested Development. I’m talking about Gobias Coffee Black Ale from Oliphant Brewing!
Black Ales have become a rarity in mainstream craft, which is a shame. These brews combine the beautiful citrusy, piney hop character of an IPA with the caramel and chocolate malt-heavy, dark-roast richness of a Stout. They’re practically made to taste like those chocolate orange candies you have to whack on the table to break up the slices!
And, Oliphant amped theirs up by brewing it on heaps of espresso blend coffee! With every silky sip, splendid flavors of a fresh cafe nico — a type of orange-infused latte — swish and swirl across my palate. I feel as much espresso euphoria sippin’ on this brew as I do taking pulls from my coffee cup at my favorite neighborhood cafe.
But until now, Gobias could only be found in crowlers at the taproom in Wisconsin, which meant getting my hands on it was way harder than walking down the road to the coffee shop. My fellow espresso enthusiasts, now is the time to get a new coffee fix with this bangin’ Black Ale.
