A Note on This Beer
When it comes to barrel-aged beer, Tequila is rare. Not only are these barrels not as readily available in the U.S. as they are south of the border, but many brewers worry about the liquor’s strong lingering flavors overwhelming those of the beer.
Well, today’s Golden Sour #10 shows why tasting a quality Tequila BA brew should be on every beer lover’s bucket list.
Soquel Fermentation Project crafted this bright Sour with a blend of beers aged 1 and 2 years, then aged the brew in Tequila Barrels with agave nectar. Every mesmerizing sip brims with earthy honey and tangy citrus notes, disguising the 8.8% ABV a little too well.
Once you get a taste, it’ll be tempting to try merging all your beers with tequila. But, unless the Soquel crew is there to oversee things, we don’t recommend that. So, a much better idea is to stock up now, while you can.
*Soquel only brews in tiny batches and doesn’t have a taproom. Normally, only Northern California craft fans even get a shot at their tasty beers!
