A Note on This Beer
Seattle’s Standard Brewing is less than a mile from my house. I regularly drop in to get growler fills and snag one of their delicious sandwiches (I highly recommend the ‘Hold My Beer’ with house-smoked pork shoulder).
But, even though we live in the same ‘hood, this tiny batch brewery hooked me up with just 28 cases of today’s deliciously juicy Hazy IPA to share with you.
I get it — the brewery is small and the demand is high. Most of their stuff doesn’t even make it beyond the city limits, let alone the state line. Because the locals really do love this crew — they’re one of Seattle’s Best Breweries according to both Eater and Thrillist.
The Seattle Times even describes the taproom as “what a place to drink beer should be.” That’s some serious praise in the craft-soaked Northwest!
If you ever plan a visit to our fair city, Standard should be high up on your ‘must try’ list. Until then, enjoy the next best thing to being there with a pint or two of this Citra and Motueka-hopped juicebomb!
It tastes like the brewers raided the citrus section of every produce stand at Seattle’s famed Pike Place Market, and blended it all together into a beer smoothie. Every sip overflows with ruby red grapefruit, dank melon, and tangy tangerine. A hint of piney resin on the finish points to this beer’s northwest roots.
You’re just lucky that I live so close to the brewery, or a lot of those 28 cases might have found their way into my own fridge. Luckily, I can stroll to the taproom to get my fix, which means my little stash of cans is up for grabs!
