A Note on This Beer
When it comes to brewing like the beer-making Belgian monks of old, Forbes says “Nobody does it better” in Florida than Barrel of Monks!
Every year, the Barrel of Monks team crafts "a completely new recipe to explore the depth of flavor of Belgian ales, understanding this particular beer may never be made again".
In 2021, they’ve decided to go big, dark, and malty with an 11% ABV Belgian Quad!
Thanks to a massive grain bill and imported Belgian candi sugar, the brew’s thick body contains swaths of dark fruit flavors and a touch of cocoa that, despite the higher ABV of the style, is deceptively drinkable.
Swirl it in a glass and let the blackberry and currant aromas breathe. Take that first sip to reveal a decadent flavor akin to a glass of Zinfandel. Lingering notes of plum and toffee dance across the palate, giving a satisfying and complex flavor profile you’ll want to show off to your beer loving friends.
But, with a mere 350 bottles to go around, this vintage won’t last long. Hop on some of our tiny stash and find out why Forbes heaps praise on Barrel of Monks, and their limited and traditional dark beers!
