A Note on This Beer
If this is your first taste of Jester King — the folks widely credited with making Farmhouse Ales popular in America — man-oh-man, are you in for quite the introduction!
This release is a Farmhouse Ale refermented with "spent" blackberries. And, if you don’t already know just how awesome that is, I’ll tell you!
It all started 10 years ago, when these Texas Farmhouse masters realized that their fruit still had a lot of character left after the initial fermentation. So, they harnessed some Belgian brewing techniques and used the fruit all over again in a brand-new beer, for even more delicious juice notes and ripe complexity.
If there’s anything that can be taken away from a taste of today’s Grim Harvest (Batch #4), it’s that Jester King has thoroughly nailed this process!
This delectable sipper flows with jammy undertones from marion blackberries (previously used in JK’s acclaimed Nocturnum Chrysalis, one of the top 100 Wild Ales in the world on BeerAdvocate)!
It’s delightfully funky, and far more tart and refreshing than sweet. Mild citrus and dry woody notes draw you in for more nuance-filled depth in every sip. Cheers!
*Both Paste Mag and Vinepair named Jester King one of the Best Breweries of the Past Decade!
