A Note on This Beer
I’m willing to bet you’ve never heard of Grodziskie. Few have!
Also known as “Polish Champagne,” it’s a crushable, traditional-style Wheat Lager made from smoked-oak wheat malts!
The Grodziskie style dates all the way back to the 1300’s; after hundreds of years of being a Polish staple, mainstream production halted by around 1993. Lately, though, a select few craft breweries have resurrected the smoky, but still incredibly light brew to give folks a delicious taste of history!
And, who better than Lua Brewing? After all, they are one of Untappd’s Top 50 Breweries! If they’re gonna go and experiment on a style you’ve never heard of, you best believe it’s going to be tasty. Craft fans lucky enough to experience the Des Moines brewery’s take on this ultra rare style are singing their exaltations:
- “Never had a beer like this before, and I LOVE IT! Smells and tastes like a smoked whiskey drink. Would have again.” @Pete S.
- “Smoke in a glass. Makes me want to BBQ some salmon!” @Sawyer G.
- “Actually TASTES smoky! So many beers say they do but can’t hold up.” @Stu A.
Want a taste of Polish history, replete with smoked oak flavors? We have less than 350 of today’s Grodziskie, so grab some before our stash is history!
This beer is a collaboration with Lua’s friends at Fair State Brewing Cooperative!
