A Note on This Beer
Reddit user @Kendallsan declares, Energy City’s Sours are “worth every moment to go get. They are so frickin’ spectacular.”
That’s just one comment amid the sea of praise. Mere months after they first tried their hand at the style, EC became one of the most sought-after Fruited Sour slingers in Illinois.
As PorchDrinking.com notes, people drive from two counties over to pick up these limited releases at the taproom.
You can taste the fruity hype for yourself with today’s brand-new Guava Sway Turbine!
Energy City crafted this ridiculously succulent slushy Sour with pink guava and coconut, as well as hopped it with naturally tropical Sabro. In fact, the brewers say it’s so lusciously thick and packed to the brim with fruit, the canning line got a little messy.
On the tongue, each sip is juicy and sweet thanks to the fruit, rounded out with island-fresh notes of tangerine, passionfruit, and peach from the hops. It all leads to a briskly tart berries ‘n citrus finish, and if it weren’t so smoothie-thick I’d say it was like a layered guava rum cocktail.
I’m grabbing extra of this one to transform a chilly winter night into an evening of tropical warmth. As long as I’m sipping away on Guava Sway Turbine, it might as well be Christmas in July.
