A Note on This Beer
‘Whole Leaf Crystal’ and ‘Fuggle’ sure sound like some funny hobbit words. But, they’re actually hugely aromatic hops used by humans to craft today’s limited Hayduke Helles.
Those humans are none other than the multi-Oregon Beer Award gold medalists at Crux Fermentation Project. And, while they’re not hobbits (as far as we know), they probably have a wizard or two working behind the scenes.
They coax out such a beautiful balance of crisp florals and citrus-coated wood notes from this invigorating hop combo and smooth, Pilsner malt backbone — surely some magic is involved!
Either way, you’ll feel like dancing a hobbity jig after sipping this snappy Helles Lager. It’s bright and dry, with a crisp finish that leaves you wanting more. Which is great, because with the Halfling-sized 5.5% ABV, you can sip and dance all afternoon!
Just load up on cans quick, because this Helles Lager is a seasonal, warm-weather release only. Once our stash is gone, you’ll have to go on a quest to Crux’s headquarters in Bend, Oregon and beg for more — that, or find a wizard to help you out.
*Hayduke Helles is named after a fictional character in Edward Abbey novels. He’s not a hobbit, but he does enjoy refreshing beers and walking around barefoot.
