A Note on This Beer
As someone who grew up with brothers, Backwoods Brewing is a bit of a success story.
Brewery co-founder Tom Waters and his two brothers learned the art of homebrewing with their dad in the Waters’ family garage. Tom recalled to us how those first beers tasted just like you’d expect from three boys and their dad — but the experience was powerful enough that the brothers opened a brewery together, years later.
Still, I can only imagine all the noogies and half nelson holds that were waged between the three brothers — in the world of siblings, no mistake or good deed ever goes unpunished!
Tom Waters would be the first to tell you that nothing quashes a rivalry like an ice cold can of somethin’ juicy, like their new Hazy Nelson.
It boasts a big New England-style fruitiness with all the hop bitterness of a West Coast-style IPA. And, for fans like @Eric W., it’s a dank hazy that tastes “like candy!”
Backwoods brews Hazy Nelson with a duo of Nelson Sauvin and Southern Cross Hops, so it seeps with aromas of lemony citrus and fresh pine. And, the resinous flavors of tangerine kush and honeydew melon are wrapped in a pillowy mouthfeel.
Basically, this brew locks you into a power hold of hoppy goodness. And personally, I’d take a Hazy Nelson over a half nelson from my brothers, anyday.
