Though they are loved for their iconic strong ales and IPAs, Lagunitas isn’t widely known for their limited barrel editions.  Why?  Whenever they make a special edition beer it is so heavily demanded that it sells out in the taproom and has never made it into bottles until today’s High Westified Imperial Coffee Stout.

High Westified is the highest rated limited release from Lagunitas, with a world-class 97 on Beer Advocate.  When we heard they were bottling this acclaimed, barrel aged beer, we got into our “Black Friday” mode and fought tooth and nail to snatch as much of it as we could to share with Washington State.

High Westified is a rye whiskey barrel-aged, coffee infused behemoth.  It combines black-out malts with a black-out 12% ABV to create a beer you’ll remember and think about for months - provided you don’t have too much.

The cinderous pitch of High Westified ominously heralds the coming of dark malt flavors.  Aromas of spicy whiskey cream, scorched toffee and coffee reign over the glass.  Drink and enjoy single malt scotch complexity; smoky roasts, caramelized sugars, and woody depth.  

Lagunitas is on the precipice of launching themselves as a limited edition specialist.  Few beers can do it with more style and substance than their High Westifed Imperial Coffee Stout.
