A Note on This Beer
Ever hear of a beer being available only ONE day of the year? Then you probably haven't heard of Hopocalypse Day.
It’s the day that IPA zealots in San Leandro, CA (and the entire San Francisco Bay Area) lose their sh*t over Hopocalypse Black Label TIPA -- the super limited-release, 4.28 BA-rated, hop beast from GABF Gold-winning Drake’s Brewing.
Seriously, this day is marked on the locals’ calendars in big red letters. Some will even skip work to get a competitive edge in the race to score some Black Label TIPA before it’s all gone (did we mention it’s only available one day a year?). But because the brewery only allows so many bottles per person, even these hop-crazed Californians can be turned away from Drake’s pearly gates if they aren’t quick enough!
So get ready to smash that Get It button, because Tavour is the only one who can bring the Hopocalypse to your front door.
Brewed with an arsenal of Chinook, Jarrylo, Amarillo and El Dorado Hops, Hopocalypse Black Label smashes down on the taste buds in a full-bodied blast of juicy-sweet pineapple and bright orange zest. The mid-palate is piney and resinous, with kicks of honeydew melon and tropical mango in the mix. And on the finish is a flurry of fresh grapefruit with a touch of dankness, all nestled in a surprisingly smooth 12.5% ABV.
Finish off a bottle, and all you’ll be thinking is “DAMN that’s good! Armageddon me another one.”
But mind how many bottles you go through! Outside of Drake’s taproom, Tavour is the only place celebrating Hopocalypse Day with some of this hard-to-find, hoppy-as-hell Triple IPA with an ABV higher than the heavens.
