When many of us think of Delaware craft breweries, Dogfish Head is usually the first that comes to mind.

But, if you think Dogfish Head is the top dog of Delaware, then you are sorely mistaken — in reality, Dewey Beer Co. reigns as the highest-rated brewery in the state on Untappd!

Even though they operate on a much smaller scale than Dogfish Head, Dewey gets loads of love from craft fans up and down the East Coast. 

People like local blogger The Rehoboth Foodie applaud Dewey for “becoming an absolute mecca for…IPAs in the region.” And no IPA in Dewey’s arsenal gets more attention than Hot Wax.

The brewers craft this Imperial IPA so it drips with “all the Vic Secret and Galaxy Hops one could hope for.” 

Translation: it’s a tropical hopbomb that packs a wallop of pineapple-peach punch backed by a resinous finish. 

Fans like @Dopesauce9182 on Reddit even say Hot Wax is on par with Trillium and Other Half! And, for others like @Brian W., it’s simply “one of the GOAT [Greatest of All Time] Dewey IPAs… I dare a 302 brewery to come close.”

Because, whereas Dogfish Head is probably the biggest name in the 302, juicy hop treats like Hot Wax are keeping Dewey Beer high on the list of the top Delaware breweries.
