About This Beer
For this latest masterpiece, the crew teamed up with their friends at Tired Hands and Stillwater Artisanal, playing up each brewery’s strengths for one incredible sipper. They started by dry hopping the beer with Strata and Nelson Sauvin for a robust, hoppy complexity. And they let it mature for 39 months in a blend of Willet, Elijah Craig 20 year, and Willet Rye barrels!
Tasting Notes
We’re expecting the hops to play beautifully against raisin and dark fruit nuances from the Barleywine base, with ribbons of rich caramel swirling just beneath the surface. And we’re looking for sublime cask character to impart hints of vanilla oak and whiskey to a shockingly smooth 18.2% ABV!

I love most Anchorage barleywines, but this just ain’t it. Bitter, earthy and then more bitter, the chaga does not help here.

Not a good beer, literally about to pour $50 down the drain.

This redeems the style in so many facets;
gone is the Dogfish Head 120, replaced by a balanced bitter hop backbone that is supported by a caramel and toffee body.

This is an odd beer. Has a lot of qualities I really enjoy. Brown sugar, toffee, caramel, malty hoppy & sweet. But the distinct mushroom scent & flavor doesn’t play well with the rest of the profile.
