A Note on This Beer
My favorite reviewer on BeerAdvocate goes by the name of @StonedTrippin and his profile pic is a Grateful Dead logo. I’ve never actually met the dude, but he’s gotta have a well-trained palate, because according to his profile he’s reviewed 13,050 beers!
Which is insane. I try a LOT of beers and I don’t think I can top that. Who can??
That’s why I took notice when he called today’s Rum Barrel-Aged Illuminatos Russian Imperial Stout with Vanilla “amazingly rich and complex.” That was my exact reaction the first time I tried it! Me and @StonedTrippin are totally on the same wavelength!
If you spend any time at all geeking out on BA, there’s a good chance you’ve stumbled across a few of his reviews. Maybe, like me, you’ve wondered who this person is. What are his likes and dislikes? How many Grateful Dead shows has he been to? And most importantly, what is he drinking?
Today, you can grab a bottle of Illuminatos and try one of the mystery man’s all time favorite brews. I know that after sipping this chocolatey 11.30% ABV Stout, I feel like I’m getting closer to being @StonedTrippin’s best drinkin’ buddy.
Pop open a can and taste what this super brew reviewer describes as “a ton of body, a molasses hit, and plenty of vanilla.”
Feel that sweet spice tickle your nose? It’s from cold conditioning on fresh vanilla. Then wrap your tongue around a thick mouthfeel, courtesy of ten different specialty grains. The taste is just like swirled bittersweet dark chocolate-vanilla cordial — sip it and imagine biting through the fudgy shell so the rum explodes over your palate.
Maybe you’ll never taste 13,050 beers, but today you can skip all the trial and error and get right to the top of the heap with Illuminatos. And if by chance you ARE @StonedTrippin, drop us a line, man! We’d love to hear from you!
