A Note on This Beer
It’s the time of year when I like to cozy up with a deeply nuanced brew that’s swirled in pleasant fruit flavors. Today’s brand new Sour Ale release from Anchorage Brewing has my cravings covered!
To coax out all of Incantation’s luscious, tropical fruit tang and crisp, white wine notes, Gabe Fletcher and his award-winning Alaskan brew crew aged the brew with Brettanomyces in French Oak Chardonnay Barrels for a whopping 22 months.
But, the real juicy contentment comes from this: they aged the brew for an additional three months in Missouri Oak barrels on spellbinding amounts of apricots, guava, and passion fruit!
Every sip is like biting into a plump spoonful of fresh-cut fruit and washing it down with a sip of pleasantly tart lemonade. Gentle funk whispers in on the finish, allowing me to imagine I’m in a rustic farmhouse, sipping away on a crisp fall afternoon.
And, as if all that lush complexity wasn’t enough to totally satiate the senses, the 10% ABV is there as a backup!
Though outside of Tavour, the only way to get it is to trek up to America’s Last Frontier, ASAP. That, or say a magical incantation of your own and hope there’s still some left by Halloween.
