About This Beer
The GABF award-winning brewers at Rhinegeist crafted this sublime stunner with an impressive malt bill featuring Marris Otter, pale, roasted barley, chocolate, flaked oats, dark crystal, and carafoam, along with measured doses of Bravo and Crystal Hops.
Tasting Notes
True to its name, it pours black as an inkwell with rich aromas of dark chocolate and a touch of smoke. The first sip reveals a rich and roasty backbone. Depths of raisin and plum, along with a hint of molasses, follow. It all culminates in a pleasantly dry, herbal, subtly bitter finish that rounds everything out while leaving a permanent mark on your palate!

10% and it doesn't feel like anything anywhere near that mark. Rich flavors give me an INK-ling that this is a solid stout from bottom to Big Damn Beer top.

I was excited to try the base version. Rich roast that is akin to dark chocolate, charred wood, and starbucks coffee. Lots of complexity in a dark beer.

really nice and smooth for a 10% non barreled stout

A very good, complex Stout that hides the 10% very well! Rich, roasty aroma, and just enough coffee to compliment the smokey chocolate. Highly recommended!

A little thin for a RIS.
Interesting dark fruit flavors.
Good amount but not overwhelming hops.

Good strong stout. Pretty bitter in a good way. May not be the choice for consumers with sweet tooth’s.
