A Note on This Beer
Craft fans all over the country are familiar with the imaginative talents of Jester King, who were voted 4th Best Small Brewery in the World by the readers of Craft Beer & Brewing.
Today, they’re inviting you to board a (virtual) plane to a romantic Tuscan villa, where you’ll be surrounded by lush vineyards and green, rolling hills. You can almost smell the garlic and fresh basil wafting through the villa windows, where a chef is making fresh pasta by hand.
At least, that’s how I felt after sipping their new Italian Style Pilsner.
This light, crisp, and slightly sweet brew boasts a Mediterranean malt bill of Weyermann Eraclea from north of Venice, and a touch of caramelly CaraMunich. The brewers kettle hopped it with Hallertau Magnum and Hallertau Mittelfruh, and fermented it with Lager yeast from San Antonio’s Community Cultures Yeast Lab.
To give this Pilsner its signature Italian style, they dry-hopped it with the Noble European varieties Spalter Select and Saphir.
The taste is crisp and dry, with a whisper of cracked pepper and a hint of floral sweetness. And yet, there’s a balanced bitterness on the finish that eagerly invites another sip.
Sure, you may not be able to fly to a real Italian villa at this particular moment. But, nothing is stopping you from cracking open a can of this crushable brew and sipping it alongside a slice of pizza or a plate of spaghetti!
Today, you can take a note from Jester King, and let your imagination run wild. Salute!
