A Note on This Beer

At first glance, the mere concept of merging a Belgian Tripel with tequila seems about as natural as letting a tiger and a bunny live together in the zoo. It’s a wickedly fun idea that will ultimately end in disaster.

But, what if the tiger and bunny actually got on surprisingly well? Today’s La Calavera Catrina Three Chopt Tripel is a Tequila Barrel-Aged Tripel, and man, oh man, does it prove that Belgian Tripels and tequila make a great team!

To make it, the flavor-pioneers at Lickinghole Creek conditioned their smooth Three Chopt Belgian Tripel on lime zest and let it rest for over 3 months on Mexican tequila barrel chips!

The final result brims with honey, citrus, and oak notes, with lingering whispers of Belgian spice. Each 9.3% ABV sip is surprisingly refreshing, wrapped in a gentle, summery heat from the liquor.

Forget those sugary restaurant concoctions; this tongue-tantalizing Tripel is the ultimate beer-margarita!

*We do not recommend pairing up an actual tiger and bunny. Those guys wouldn’t get along anywhere near as smoothly as today’s BA Tripel.

Does not taste like a 10% beer. Fantastic flavor. Not as strong as normal triples but definitely has a tequila kick

Gatorade G2. Cloves, oranges, Halloween, pumpkin pie spice. Apple cider. Tequila burps.

Refreshing with the just the right amount of lime and tequila. Wonderful extra kick of tequila in the middle. Super crisp. All that kept this from being perfect is somewhat of an odd aftertaste. It's minor, but present.

Really nails the flavor profile. Lime on the nose, sweet Belgian spice in the middle and tequila margarita on the finish

It's good and it tastes like a good tequila was used, but the flavors don't quite blend the way I had hoped.

This Belgian triple runs 9.3% and boasts aromatics of honey, lemon and biscuit. Medium bodied with a meringue like head! Notes of tea leaf, lime zest, heavy Belgian yeast and malty esters... finishes citrusy, medicinal and slightly dry from the oak. Smooth tequila warmth, but not at all threatening. Their house triple was conditioned on lime zest and aged 3 months further on a bed of tequila barrel chips! Comes together surprisingly well! But ya gotta love triples or don't start with this one lol 😁🍻👍 ⭐⭐⭐💫💫
