A Note on This Beer
I have fallen completely, head-over-heels in love with Last Caress. Its flavors of tangy tangerine and pithy grapefruit remind me of the very first Hazies I ever tried, back when the style first swept me off of my feet!
My feelings for this beer can be best expressed as a sonnet.
Ode to a Last Caress
Shall I compare thee to a citrus grove?
Thou art more fragrant, and quite boozier.
A tangerine and lemon treasure trove
You’ll bring delight even to those much choosier.
With El Dorado, Citra, Simcoe, too
While Amarillo brings a note of pine
I seek to sip a never ending brew;
To always flirt with flavors so divine
But steady does the can grow ever lighter
Reminding me with every sunny sip
That this soft-bodied pint will soon retire
No more to kiss with juice my thirsty lips.
With final drops, I lay the can to rest
And linger there, enjoying Last Caress.
Okay, so I’m not Bill Shakespeare. But, considering that’s the first Sonnet I’ve attempted since high school, I’m pretty happy with it. And, I’m even happier that I have another can in the fridge.
