A Note on This Beer
If you’re the more adventurous type of craft fan — one who isn’t afraid of drinking outside the box — then you absolutely need to try Le Seul Noir I from Une Année.
This Chicago-based crew turns Sour Ale brewing into an art form, crafting eye-catching sippers that mesmerize beer nerds’ palates. So much so that Forbes and PorchDrinking.com rightfully call them one of the Best Breweries in Illinois.
Le Seul Noir 1 is a perfect example of their creative expertise. The brewers made it by blending a mild, roasty Stout with a bright ‘n tangy Sour base. Then, they loaded the brew with piles of juicy-tart blackberries and sweet, velvety vanilla beans.
It’s like nothing I’ve tasted in a long time, though I wish I had tasted it sooner — this illicitly delicious Dark Sour is phenomenal!
With each sip, deep rivers of pressed blackberry juice flow over the palate, accompanied by an invigorating tartness. Then come the smooth, malty flavors of the Stout to coat the puckering berries in warm notes of sweet, melty milk chocolate. Imagine a Tootsie Roll with a piece of bursting fruit in the middle, and you’ll come close to this brew’s uniquely enticing profile.
But, if you want to get close enough to actually taste Le Seul Noir I, you’ll have to be quick. We have only 40 cases to go around!
