A Note on This Beer

This Stout is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S!

Reese’s and bananas! B-A-N-A-N-A-S!

I can’t help it! Each sip of today’s cacao nib, lactose, peanut butter — and banana(!) — loaded Pastry Stout has me singing out in delighted glee.

You could toss all these ingredients in a blender, and it probably still wouldn’t sip down as dreamily as this Stout. It’s like a nutty mocha mousse topped with sweet banana slices!

As @Sean goes so far as to rave, “Greatest invention since alcohol!”

The brew’s name? Lil’ Jifforia - Fat Elvis. It’s a special release from the craft connoisseurs at Main & Mill Brewing. With every indulgent mouthful, I can understand why Sauce Magazine praises this crew as one of the Best-Kept Secrets in St. Louis Beer, and they don’t even brew within city limits!

And, one of the best things about today’s treat of a Pastry Stout? It clocks in at an easygoing 5.5% ABV. That means, I can keep sipping and singing “B-A-N-A-N-A-S” all night long!

Wasn't nearly as heavy as I expected it to be, but I could still really taste banana. The peanut butter was a bit muted, but I really enjoyed it

Deep, rich peanut butter aroma with a hint of coffee. Banana sneaks in towards the middle of the sip giving way to hint of bitter, dark cocoa. This one is complex and really lovely. Just a lot of fun all around.

Unusual! Not for everyone, the peanut front note is odd. Banana comes through later but is subdued.

Pours brown (lighter than expected) with a thin tan head and hazy. Peanut butter jumps out immediately in the aroma and covers most everything else though banana is present in the background. Medium body and not too much residual sweetness. Flavors of peanuts (with skins) dominates. Chocolate and malt play in the background.

A little bitter for me. I taste the bananas and peanut butter as promised, but I tend to like my stouts a little bit more thick. The flavors are good.

Flavor was amazing, knocked it out of the park. I like a good thick and creamy stout but this was a little on the syrupy side for me. Still a very well made beer
