A Note on This Beer
Most people agree that middle school sucks. Between kids deciding you’re their best friend today and their worst enemy tomorrow, and turning beet red every time someone attractive walks by, it can be a pretty grueling experience.
Thankfully, I could always look forward to lunch break! My friends and I would sit outside on the lawn and trade baseball cards along with hostess cupcakes. But there was one thing I’d never trade: my Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pies. These creamy treasures were the highlight of every lunch hour!
It’s clear that Perennial Artisan Ales felt the same, because today’s Lunchbox Treasures evokes all the flavors of those cinnamony-sweet sandwich cookies.
The brewers crafted this velvety-smooth Imperial Stout with marshmallow in the boil, then finished it on vanilla, nutmeg, more marshmallow, and Saigon cinnamon. It’s got a thick, sumptuous mouthfeel that wraps your taste buds in a lunchtime party of gooey oatmeal cookies dusted with baking spices.
It may taste like a childhood treat, but it’s got a very grown-up 12% ABV. I’m guessing your mama wouldn’t have packed THIS in your lunchbox!
Craft fans are eager to dig up more of these treasures:
- “Ohhhh yeahhhhh! This is a delicious stout.” @Tim M.
- “ Amazing. You actually get a lot more marshmallow flavor than what I was expecting . . . indulgent without being too heavy.” @Kaitlin S.
- “My favorite of Perennial's Dessert Stouts so far.” @Dan.
After tasting this decadent brew, you may wanna pair it with your own stash of oatmeal cream pies! But, you also might want to grab your share quickly — this is one treasure that Tavoursters aren’t likely to trade.
