A Note on This Beer

Most people agree that middle school sucks. Between kids deciding you’re their best friend today and their worst enemy tomorrow, and turning beet red every time someone attractive walks by, it can be a pretty grueling experience.

Thankfully, I could always look forward to lunch break! My friends and I would sit outside on the lawn and trade baseball cards along with hostess cupcakes. But there was one thing I’d never trade: my Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pies. These creamy treasures were the highlight of every lunch hour!

It’s clear that Perennial Artisan Ales felt the same, because today’s Lunchbox Treasures evokes all the flavors of those cinnamony-sweet sandwich cookies.

The brewers crafted this velvety-smooth Imperial Stout with marshmallow in the boil, then finished it on vanilla, nutmeg, more marshmallow, and Saigon cinnamon. It’s got a thick, sumptuous mouthfeel that wraps your taste buds in a lunchtime party of gooey oatmeal cookies dusted with baking spices.

It may taste like a childhood treat, but it’s got a very grown-up 12% ABV. I’m guessing your mama wouldn’t have packed THIS in your lunchbox!

Craft fans are eager to dig up more of these treasures:

  • “Ohhhh yeahhhhh! This is a delicious stout.” @Tim M.
  • “ Amazing. You actually get a lot more marshmallow flavor than what I was expecting . . . indulgent without being too heavy.” @Kaitlin S.
  • “My favorite of Perennial's Dessert Stouts so far.” @Dan.

After tasting this decadent brew, you may wanna pair it with your own stash of oatmeal cream pies! But, you also might want to grab your share quickly — this is one treasure that Tavoursters aren’t likely to trade.

False advertising. Does not taste like a pastry at all. Very hoppy and thick.

Smooth beer, and the spices they use mix right into it without overwhelming the taste.

Such a sweet delicious treat to enjoy after some savory Texas barbeque. So sad I only ordered one. I definitely want a second!

I don't know what others are talking about, but this thick spiced cinnamon bomb is kick a@#! Creamy marshmallow in the mouthfeel, and for 12% it hits its mark. One of the best breweries out there! So glad I got more than one! Honestly this in a blind test could pass for a pumpkin stout.

I really enjoy when a beer as strong as this tastes delightful! I can taste all of the ingredients very well but do wish there was more of a marshmallow taste as it’s very faint. Much respect to Perennial Artisan Ales for this absolute gem!

Very strong, didn't get too much of the cinammon and the marshmallow adds more texture than flavor. But I might have just gotten a bad can.

Daily corona battle. Pours rich, jet black. Thick and creamy, boozy at first. Mellows somewhat, but I never find much of the cinnamon, marshmallow, etc. Solid, sweet Imp stout.

Line everyone else I'm drinking it and wondering how the flavor got them to the name and artwork on the can. Cinnamon/nutmeg bomb which is pretty decent but not what I was expecting at all.

This powerful imperial pastry stout runs 12% and pours with a roasty toasted marshmallow head fitting of the core ingredient added to this boil! Aromatics of brandy and brown sugar filled by notes of syrupy molasses and candied figs with a cinnamon element on the finish! Surprisingly medium bodied considering the heft of the 12% booze bomb. Mellow on the palate bit 16oz would be perfectly shareable lol delicious dessert stout lingers with baking spices that definitely remind me of those little debby oatmeal cream pies at recess! 😃🍻👍 💎💎💎💎💍
