About This Beer
The Alesong crew aged their English Barleywine in freshly emptied Heaven Hill barrels, wrapping it up in luxurious oaky vanilla.
Tasting Notes
Expect those top-shelf notes to amplify and elevate the candied date and toffee nuances in the base beer. On the finish, a bit of hoppy bitterness balances the sweetness, making this 13.2% ABV dangerously sippable in the very best way!

The first few sips are delicious, but eventually it turns a little bitter. Not like an IPA, but more like a bittersweetness in the finish. It's not too heavy, so it would otherwise be easy to drink were it not for the bittersweet aftertaste.

Tastes like delicious, alcoholic raisins. Very good!

Nose of bourbon, caramel. Pours slightly hazy brown w/decent head. Mouthfeel is smooth, creamy. On the palate, more caramel, bourbon; also rye, vanilla, toffee & oak. Sweet but not sticky. Strong, but not boozy. Very nice.

Caceat: BA barleywines are my favorite style. This one does not disappoint. Smooth, appropriately sweet yet balanced with the etoh content, subtle hops. The barrel aging balanced all very well. Hopeful that this is created again before 2023.

A good barleywine. Tasted some fruity notes like dried plums or figs. The barrel aging added an extra layer of complexity.

Toffee, vanilla and caramel hide the ABV well. This one may go down too quickly.

Nice caramel and vanilla flavors to go with the bourbon aging. Sweetness is not overwhelming with a subtle taste of yeast.

Lots of malt on the nose. Very smooth mouth feel. Lots of malt and barley wine deliciousness with some tannins with just enough hop bitterness to be noted but not unpleasant. Wish I had bought more!

Heaven Hill barrels are the same kind they use for ADWTD. Very smooth, a bit of spice, a little caramel
