About This Beer
The OEC crew started with a traditional German step infusion mash using Pilsner, Munich, and Cara malts. Then they hopped it with Tettnang and Spalt Select for rich, Noble Hop nuances before open fermentation and oak lagering for four weeks prior to canning.
Tasting Notes
It’s a phenomenal example of a Maibock — a lush, pale take on a traditional German Bock with a bit more hoppy character. Tangy stone fruit aromas open on the pour. Notes of toasted wheat, golden caramel, sweet malt, and a hint of oak carry through each sip with just a pinch of pepper on the refreshingly dry finish.

Overall, a smooth and well-made maibock. Would prefer a bit more of the peppery hop character common to the style though.

Honey gold color. Firm white head settles to a small cap. Nice lacing. Fragrant herbal hop aroma. Tangy, grainy malt flavor upfront. Rustic bread, honey, herbal hops. Earthy yeast, mild oak. Quite tasty.
