About This Beer
pFriem brewed Maple Barrel Aged Smoked Porter with eight different specialty malts, including chocolate malt, oats, and beechwood-smoked malt. And they hopped it with Chinook to nudge it toward its 45 IBU and bolster the brew’s mild campfire tones with a touch of pine resin.
A snooze in maple syrup barrels infused the beer’s smooth body with maple’s woodsy sweetness, a touch of booze, and the oaky nuances of vanilla and tannins.
Tasting Notes
Have you ever brunched on bacon and waffles inside a log cabin? This is what it would taste like — rich and lightly smoky with a splash of maple syrup.

Very delicate mouthfeel considering the flavor bomb. Glad this one actually shipped this time lol

delicious twist on a solid porter baseline

A good balance of maple, coffee, malt, with a hint of smoke.

phenomenal.

I was hoping for more from this one. The smokiness stole from the porter flavor instead of augmenting it, leaving the whole thing a little underwhelming for me.

There is a lot going on here. It has a slightly sweet smokey aftertaste. There was also something else going on there that I did not overly care for - maybe bourbon from the barrels?

But where’s the smoke?

just the right amount of smoke playing against the roasty porter profile. good, not the best of pfriem, but glad to have tried

Maple & light smokiness w/roasted malt in aroma. Maple sweetness & smoke work so well together in taste. Pecan pie vibes. Light
booze and wood are present as well.

Notes of rich, dark chocolate, a hint of vanilla, and a wisp of smoke. Nice work with this smoked porter, pFriem.
