About This Beer
When Fort George drops Matryoshka Imperial Stout, Dark Beer fans across the Pacific Northwest drop whatever they’re doing. Suddenly, a drive out to the tiny coastal town of Astoria, Oregon starts to look a lot more reasonable!
This annual release seems to get better every year, and we think this year’s version is really something special.
To create this one-off release, the brewers aged Matryoshka (2022) in a combination of IJW Whiskey Barrels and Westward Whisky barrels. Cellar it for a year or two, and it will grow even smoother and more chocolatey with each day.
Tasting Notes
Every sip overflows with smooth, oaky vanilla, rich, roasty coffee, and hints of barrel char. Think vanilla bean ice cream topped with whiskey-infused hot fudge and you’ll have some idea of what’s in store. Maybe chased with a sip of espresso.
