About This Beer
For their 2022 Matryoshka series, Fort George aged a Russian Imperial Stout base in whiskey barrels from Westward Whiskey and IJW Whiskey Company. Then, they conditioned this portion of the batch with vanilla and cardamom to create a deliciously unique variant.
Tasting Notes
Deeply chocolatey Matryoshka Vanilla and Cardamom arrives with a generous note of spice on the nose, and mellows into a smooth vanilla-infused sip. As it shifts from chilled to room temperature, different flavors reveal themselves — roasty nuances of cocoa and coffee, plus a slight note of bitter char that meshes with oaky tannins from the barrels.
A boozy 14% ABV rounds it out for a sipper that might just have you talking like @Wendy G., who calls it, “Just divine, IMHO.”
