About This Beer
When Heathen drops this annual release, marauding mint mavens from all over the Pacific Northwest descend on the Vancouver, Washington taproom. Because the brewers set out to make a beer that actually tastes like a Thin Mint cookie, and boy did they nail it.
Tasting Notes
To create this ‘thick mint’ Stout, the crew at Heathen Brewing used freshly picked mint leaves for a refreshing blast of flavor that’s cooler than morning frost in a mountain meadow. And the brewers layered their chocolate Milk Stout base with plenty of cacao nibs and milk sugar, so it tastes like a bite of gooey fudge. Specialty malts in the brew amp up the chocolatey goodness even more, while also creating just a touch of roastiness on the finish.

Not as minty as I remember it being a couple years ago...

Very minty

It was like having a Andes mint in my Stout. I didn’t like the mint so much, but there was a nice mild chocolate taste.

Thin mint cookie in a bottle! Perfect amount of mint.

Aged and didn't hold up well. No infection but muted and kind of grainy.

Like a thin mint in a glass.

Very drinkable. Wish the mint was a little more pronounced

Wow. Creamy, buttery-smooth mint flavoring. And as it warmed, the mint was more pronounced and absolutely wonderful. Would have been a 5 if it were just a bit thicker in feel

Smooth and minty. Like a chocolate wrapped dessert in a bottle.

Just a stout with a touch of mint, nothing special.

Just like an Andy’s mint

minty, thin, and a bit watery, not a great flavor.

Chocolaty minty stout. Do yourself a flavor and order at least a bottle whenever it’s available. The colder months are the perfect time to have a bottle of this laying around to pop open and enjoy. I’d keep one hidden for yourself though because just like the Girl Scouts thin mints you won’t want to share this.

delicious, but could’ve added even more mint.

Tastes thin, and the mint is pretty subtle. I think this needs to be thicker and sweeter.

Well balanced, not to heavy not to sweet. Mint comes through nicely but not overpowering.

I love dark mint beer, and this one comes through every time. Like a thin mint girl scout cookie

Definitely hits with mint (albeit a bot artificial tasting) and hint of chocolate. Improves significantly as it warms up. It was interesting for one go around and worth trying, though was somewhat underwhelmed.

Good mint flavor, but the beer is a little thin. Only a little chocolate notes.

Another of the Girl Scout Cookie pairings done this evening. Doubled up on the darker chocolate notes as well as a little of the mint. Probably not as prevalent as it was when fresh, but still delicious.
