A Note on This Beer
LA’s Cellador Ales had to cancel the public bottle release of Mellona (Sage) because it completely sold out during the member pre-sale! Their fans heard “sage honey” and “Saison” and moved fast. But we managed to acquire a limited quantity of this tart, dry ale -- and we’re excited to share it with you!
Brewed with local honey and Cellador house cultures, Mellona is oaky, lemony, and refreshing. Flavors of fresh lemon juice mellow out in oak barrels for a smooth, citrusy brightness. 35 lbs of sage honey per barrel bring a silky, slightly floral dryness to this ale, balancing the rustic Saison funk. A touch of spice comes in at the finish, rounding out the sour notes and giving Mellona an almost creamy mouthfeel.
Mellona already has a 4.19 on Untappd, and Cellador has a rating of 4.21 -- this brewery’s local, fresh ingredients and 100% oak-aged lineup are rocketing them to star status on par with the likes of Hill Farmstead. Get a taste of their wild expertise with this limited brew!
